Snagged from
isabellerecs, a set of sensory-themed questions and answers (since a lot of it, I haven't written about here yet):
S I G H T
1. favourite colour(s)? Vivid blues and violets. My veryvery favorite is the specific electric blue of solid copper nitrate.
2. least favourite colour(s)? Various shades of yellow-with-green-in-it, green-with-yellow-in-it, and a lot of shades of orange
3. do you wear glasses/contacts? No
4. are you colorblind? Nope
5. what are you seeing right now? My computer screen and its backdrop of papers, empty mugs, and knitting paraphernalia that are on the desk I'm using.
S O U N D
6. favourite band(s) or artist(s)? VNV Nation, The Cruxshadows, SJ Tucker, Ashbury Heights, Janelle Monae, David Arkenstone
7. top five songs? It's hard for me to set aside five, specifically, as being the absolute tippy-top, but three perennial favorites of mine are "In Defiance" and "The Farthest Star," both by VNV Nation, and "Storm," by SJ Tucker. Here's a large-ish playlist of representative favorite songs of mine, if anyone is interested. (They're not in any particular order in the playlist; I just dumped stuff in.)
8. favourite instrumental track(s)? All manner of Celtic and New Age-y stuff that I grew up with.
9. favourite non-musical sound? Rain, natural running water (a stream or river), and wind through the trees on a mountainside
10. what are you hearing right now? My computer fan, and intermittently, my very talkative cat
S M E L L
11. are you very sensitive to smell? Exceptionally.
12. favourite scent? fresh, dry-ish snow, autumn leaves, and that drenched, ozone-y wet smell of a big thunderstorm
13. opinion on the smell of blown-out candles? Love.
14. what does your shampoo smell like? Rosemary and peppermint.
15. do you like to wear perfume/cologne? I didn't at all for a very long time, as I loathe most things one can buy at a department store, but I discovered Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (and some other independent perfumers) a few years ago, and they have stuff I actually like! (I'm big on woodsy and/or citrusy and/or herbal scents, and while I have to use them VERY sparingly I enjoy them.) I wear either their Schrodinger's Cat or Pain scents most days, and they have a few others I wear occasionally.
T A S T E
16. favourite fruit? Peaches. Growing a lot of great peaches is one of the few redeeming qualities of the state I grew up in (South Carolina).
17. favourite non-alcoholic drink? Tea!
18. worst thing you’ve ever tasted? Salmon, the second time that night last time I had food poisoning. I should *not* have tried to eat dinner that night.
19. do you enjoy any unusual food combinations that others find unappealing? I can't really think of anything, except that I will happily put mustard on what is probably an unusually high number of things.
20. what flavor gum do you usually chew? Something with "arctic" or "glacial" in the name
T O U C H
21. do you often rip/cut the tags off of your clothes? Almost always in shirts; in pants it depends on the location.
22. any specific textures that bother you? Sticky things. I also really loathe a particular sort of roughish polyester fabric, the kind that will snag at every bit of dry skin on your fingers.
23. do you have a high pain tolerance? Generally I think yes, but it's also very... specific? Some types of pain make my lizard brain freak out very quickly and violently and some types are easy (or even enjoyable) to handle in large amounts.
24. softest article of clothing that you (have) own(ed)? Probably a particular slinky-stretchy black shirt.
25. are you a good hugger? I have been told that I am by a few people.
O T H E R
26. do you ever feel like you have a sixth sense? in what way(s)? The closest thing I've got is exceptionally good intuition for certain types of things, mostly story things. It is very rare that I am surprised by twists/big reveals in fictional media, and when I have been surprised by such things it's usually because the thing was a total ass-pull on the part of the writer(s).
27. any prophetic dreams? No.
28. have you ever had your fortune told? (did it prove to be accurate?) Once, at a Rennfaire in college, and hah, no, it was not. I have had many more romantic partners and 100% fewer children than predicted.
29. has anyone “read your mind” before? In the sense of someone else who knows me very well being on a similar mental wavelength, such that we finish each other's sentences and the like, yes. Otherwise, no.
30. have you witnessed any “miracles” or strange coincidences? Not really. Sometimes my tarot decks are freakishly on-point regarding current events in my life, but that's about it.

Date: 2019-02-18 02:28 am (UTC)*googles it* Yup, that's a great blue.
I have heard of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab for years, but I have a hard time buying scents over the internet. I'm not very good at imaging what the 'description' will smell like all put together. Maybe I should try sometime, I know they have small sizes you can order. Because I also can't stand most over the counter fragrances. Something about them gives me headaches.
